Marci McDonald, who agreed three weeks ago to an interview on the conservative Internet radio program Roadkill Radio, has decided to pull out of an interview for the program, citing a pressing personal engagement that has just come up and can’t be rescheduled.
Kari Simpson, co-host of the show, expresses Captain Renault levels of shock, in an e-mail to the e-list for her program, that this has happened.
It might be all for the best from McDonald’s perspective, as Kari, her co-hosts–and guest Brian Rushfeldt of the Canadian Family Action Coalition–critiqued The Armageddon Factor and laid into McDonald in some detail a couple of weeks ago. It’s Show 64 here, if you care to give it a listen to.
Let’s be fair here… This wasn’t going to be an interview anyway. All it was going to be was an opportunity for the folks at Road Kill Radio to outright attack her and not afford her the opportunity to respond accordingly. Pressing issues or not, if I were McDonald, |I would have backed out too. There’s no point in preaching to the defiantly deaf without someone to provide sign language that starts with a good slap upside the head.
She wrote a book, I don’t see why she has to gamble with verbal abuse and talkover from Ms. Simpson and cohorts.
I’m shocked, shocked I tell you that personal reasons aren’t enough for the Roadkillers.
Don’t be shocked Bene, that’s what happens when you think you own the world or at least that you deserve to.

I would try to beard the lion in their den, but that is just me. If she doesn’t want to, well there are better ways for her to spend her time…

McDonald wrote about Roadkill radio, (p.214) she knows their shtick and said she’d go on the show.
Then she cancelled, and gave a logical reason.
The hosts mock, deride, name call, are contemptuous, scoff and attempt to inflame. They are disrespectful, condescending and insulting.
Do I accept the Simpson react to the cancellation? hmmm…no.
