Media attention for Marci McDonald’s book, The Armageddon Factor, is quieting down a bit.
There is a column in the Brandon Sun from about a week ago, in which Frank McGuiness reasons that McDonald’s National Magazine Awards add credibity to her thesis.
The CTS channel, back east in Ontario, had a 46 minute interview with McDonald on the program Behind the Story, devoting the entire June 20 program to her and her book.
It’s here on the CTS site, if you care to give it a watch.

It’s okay, at least the interviewer (Richard Landau) didn’t interrupt, but he got circular.
I think the best religious media broadcast interview with Ms. McDonald on her book tour was Drew Marshall.
It was none defensive, no ‘we aren’t them!’ knee jerk silliness, no Conservative Party or social conservative snipping which is an undercurrent in most evangelical coverage I read and saw.
Interestingly, the Landau McDonald interview doesn’t end up on
YouTube. For some reason, nobody saw fit to circulate it to the
wider general public.
Why the minds at Crossroads or CTSTV didn’t choose to circulate
it to the Web is beyond me.
The Steve Paikin interview from TVOntario and The Agenda is on
the Web.
Are Crossroads/CTSTV trying to protect their franchise by not
circulating Landau/McDonald on the Web? Imagine– if evangelicals
accidentally saw the interview, maybe donations to Crossroads/CTSTV
would drop!
Anyway, the Paikin program on TVOntario is a significant broadcast
compared to anything offered by Crossroads/CTSTV–the Landau
interview included.
I’ve said it before and now I say it again. Crossroads/CTSTV is
programming for an ever diminishing circle of viewers. Moreover,
they can’t read the signals and continue on to the edge of the cliff.
Josh Groberman has a comment about Marci McDonald and it is
here: http://www.youtube.com/joshgroberman
You may notice that the number of “views” is less than 50 at
the time of this writing . Groberman was the person who put
together a “game show” for CTS Edmonton(?).
Read the press release and separate out the horse puckey.

Ever diminishing circles, indeed.
It could have been worse, too bad Mr. Lanau got circular and it is too bad CTS doesn’t see fit to share with a wider audience.
That having been said I notice Crossroads did not get approval from the CIDA for oversea internships, wise move on CIDA’s part, considering who was co- sponsoring.
I looked at who CIDA did approve, there is a good cross-section and Crossroads has a long way to go.
Also Crossroads is looking for interns – free labour for six months for some basic positions like assistant to an associate producer and promotions.
http://crossroads.ca/about/internships
“One half (.5) day per week will be spent with your peers (other interns) in a classroom setting discussing real life/work issues like Time Management, Attitude, Conflict Resolution, Goal Setting, Writing your Worldview, Work/Life Balance, Leadership Skills. These work and life skill-training sessions will be invaluable in setting you on a successful path. There will be a Personality diagnostic and a Strength Finder diagnostic to identify your workstyle and areas where you excel. There will also be a session or two on building a resume, and tips on what to expect in a job interview.
There will be a required reading element and book review discussions on relevant work related topics.
One exciting aspect of the peer group time is a challenge to work together as a Team to create and execute an event for a benevolent cause of choice.”
