Are Benny Hinn and Suzanne Harthern divorced yet?

On February 1, 2010 Suzanne Hinn filed for divorce from televangelist Benny Hinnin Orange County Superior Court. At the time of filing a public reason for the divorce proceeding was not given. Mrs. Hinn hired Sorrell Trope, a well known California celebrity divorce lawyer. Suzanne and Benny had been married for over 30 years.

Looking at California FAQs about divorce law:

How long does it take for a divorce to be finalized in California?
The divorce procedure in California takes six months from the date the Respondent (the spouse) is served.

Giving time for Benny Hinn (respondent) to get the papers, it’s possible the public could hear about finalization and other details soon. Hinn told his children on February 17th, according to  a  public statement on his website. News outlets ran the statement starting around February 18th.

That was six months ago, so let me ask my US friends familar with California law: would the divorce have taken place or would it  legally take place soon if Hinn received written notification when he supposedly told his four adult children?

Update: Not unexpected – The National Enquirer releases an online teaser about an affair.
Are the Hinns divorced or not?

    Who is the bigger fool?

1: A religious person who dies with a hope, but finds out there is no God.

2: An atheist who dies and finds out there is a God.

  2. Tim says:

Ummm, I pick #1 because it’s been a complete waste of time and probably cost a lot in relationships and friends and other unfulfilled purposes and number three, which you did not mention…

If the Atheist only finds out there is a god after he dies, then according to the bible, he is completely innocent as it was god’s choice not to reveal himself and if god were to hold that against the atheist, he would be the biggest hypocrite of all.

  3. Tim says:

BTW True, what you have posed here is also known as Pascal’s wager

  4. AtheistAtBirth says:

I suspect you may be ill…You should consult a medical professional.

Hadephobia is a morbid, irrational fear of hell. The hadephobic person may fear the creatures and demons that are supposed to inhabit hell or that they may take action that will result in their being sent to hell. It is a logical assumption to think that the person coping with this phobia would also fear Satan. People coping with Hadephobia may become zealously religious and avoid any situation that they feel might lead them astray.

  5. Therese says:

The reason the ‘atheists’ are so ‘vehement’ about what they believe is because they are having to argue against themselves, and what they know deep down is true. They’re trying to drown out the sound of their own hearts saying, “But, but…”

  6. Marina says:

And by your own logic Therese, Christians stick their heads in the sand when atheists assert their own convictions, so they do not have to hear the sound rationale about why there probably is no god, and thus do not feel compelled to wrestle with the god-damning information. It is easier and less painful to NOT have to look and examine the evidence for what you have come to believe (and hope) is true based on mere tradition, upbringing, wishful thinking and group/self delusional experiences or whatever. Sloppy dishonest apologists can win you over every time when “the greatest story ever sold” is something you have already decided you want to believe, even as the most convincing evidence to show contrary, falls by the wayside.

    Exclusive!!! Big news!!!

I just checked the case online again. To save you having to search for how to do this (it’s in an earlier comment), go to then click “accept terms”, and on the next screen enter the case number 10D000898.

( I think this link might get you there in one go: )

There’s a load of new actions dated Dec 29 2010 including a judgment and a declaration. Others look like they are related to dividing assets between the parties.

If you click “check marital status” it says “… There is no future hearing date scheduled. Although you are divorced you may have additional issues to be addressed by the court. If so, you need to request a hearing by filing an At Issue Memorandum form.”

So my conclusion is that they are definitely now divorced, and it was almost certainly finalized on Dec 29 2010. I don’t know if this was by design, but obviously the holiday period between christmas and new year is a good time to hide a bad news story.

I’ve just tried to google it and cannot find any other references to this anywhere on the internet – so remember, I broke the story to the world, and I did it on Bene Diction Blogs On!!!

You’re a brat. Keep us laughing. Make a good name for yourself and spew out all your trash right here in this good-for-nothing-garbage-dump-blog. Prove to us how blind you are, how absolutely and uselessly dumb you are to think you came from a freakin’ tadpole that came from nowhere. I can’t imagine how pitiful it must be for the wife that wakes up to you talking in your sleep: “God, I think You’re not…” and “Jesus, You’re such a fraud….” Dude, right here! Rehearse your solid slay-tanic stones like a true LaVey-wannabe. Yeah, man! Show the world what a ‘mighty’ man you are. Now, what you really need (and unarguably deserve) is a ferociously good beating to drive all that foolishness (pride) away from blinding your soul so you could think straight for once. Just for once. We all pray the day will come. Until then, indulge. Godspeed!

Psalm 37:13 “..but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.”

Psalm 2:4 “The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.”

PS. I just had to use that word ‘godspeed’ to try and see if it would make this outstandingly stronger-than-all all angry and stuff. Oh but wait, he just might come back with a laugh. You never know. These atheists, they’re such masters at what they do. They’re so much smarter than everyone else! Or they might come up with something original. Personally, I would like to see this poor guy’s feathers ruffled. You all know that raging 6-year old with snot hanging all over his face trying to chase down that 10-year old for an hour? All that human energy –wasted! You just hope this guy will wear out soon, that in his rigidity he’ll become weak and frail. Maybe then he’ll call out to God.

  9. Tim says:

Hey AtheistAtBirth, I dare you to go and give $5 to a homeless person today and take a picture to prove you’ve done it. I know $5 isn’t much, but at least you’ll have some proof you’ve done more than Jesus has done over the past millennium.

It’s kinda funny that you’ll be able to provide evidence of your existence and kindness within the time it takes for the click of a camera, yet nobody can provide a shred of evidence to prove the existence of a “living” god… It has to make you wonder.

Occasionally a rejoinder comes my way that essentially makes me smile. Not that many years ago – those might have been my words. Education changes many outlooks.

The witch trials in Salem were finally detained in January of 1693, and taking a further look back in comparatively recent history, we can note that the last known heretic executed by sentence of the Catholic Church, was Cayetano Ripoll in 1826.

The explosion of information on the Internet has given rise to many devout Christians who would never advocate “a ferociously good beating to drive all that foolishness (pride) away from blinding your soul,” to rethink their latent barbaric past. Only quite recently, have we observed blogs where Christian ideologies can be openly challenged, and an often spirited exchange of thoughts take place. While in other parts of the world heretics are still being brutally tortured, here in America we seem to be a bit more civilized.

I am always encouraged by these debates, because both parties in the discussion can immensely benefit. We atheists, agnostics and “uselessly dumb” unbelievers who subscribe to evolutionary science, can swap ideas with those who are entrenched in dogma, canon, and ideologies which were magnificently championed in the dark and middle ages. The results can be explosive – as we have seen.

Coming from 3 decades of Christian observance, this blog gives me “great expectations” for the future of open discourse, and the incredible effect that revelation of differing opinions can have on concrete thinking. (Concrete in the sidewalk sense).

Thank you for demonstrating an admirably passionate defense of an indefensible position.

There is an evangelical pastor in Ghana (Samuel Fletcher Sagoe, age 55) who would be interested in your bloodthirsty views.

You can contact him after the trial.

  13. LuckyLicks says:

Hmm.. I just can’t figure out what the heck that news story has got to do with anything we’ve been talking about. :)

  14. Tim says:

Yeah Atheist, what does a story about some woman being burned at the stake by religious folk have to do with you getting the crap kicked out of you so you may some day experience your “creator”? I just don’t get the connection? LOL

  15. AtheistAtbirth says:

Atheists will celebrate life, while you’re in church celebrating death.

    – Anonymous

Tim …. Guess that says it for me. Lol

  16. Susan says:

Suffering in life can either cause one to respond to the heart or lose heart. What is it to celebrate life? Which part of life? Can anyone forget hurts in life, the pains that go so deep, and even the joys mixed with the pains? The places so deep inside ones soul, that hope only comes from a God, like Jesus, whose devine grace, mercy and His words pierce through the pain of a human soul. When those who should love us…,and one is dealt heavy blows one after the other in this life, then one either runs to the cross or runs away from it.

  17. Marina says:

Pity you have become so detached from reality that you have convinced yourself you are in an intimate two-way relationship with an invisible entity via telepathy. Yet when anyone fails to take you seriously because you have no evidence to support your claims, or doubts that an invisible being actually does speak to you every day, you call them an idiot. Ain’t religion sweet.

DELUSION – a false personal belief based on incorrect inference about external reality and firmly sustained despite of what everyone else believes and despite what constitutes incontrovertible and obvious proof or evidence to the contrary (DSM-IV, p. 765).

Boys I just might be outta town for a while because this here “overseer” seems to be deleting my share of umph. Probably a Baptist, since I’m feeling he’s giving me the “left foot of fellowship” here.

Eventually someone has to take out the trash.

  20. Bene Diction says:

LuckyLicks: Spare me the good ol’ boy routine, okay?
You are welcome to comment if you can keep from demonizing individuals with name calling or groups of people with name calling generalizations.

If you can do the ‘left hand of fellowship’ routine you can express yourself without degrading yourself or others.

I’ve asked you to read the About page and asked you to play nice. Please do, stop with the juvenile nonsense like what retards! and join the grownups.

  21. Bub says:

If people could not be offended so easily, might we all be gettin along better or what? What’s the catch. Later

  22. Stacy Merrick says:

What are you guys arguing about, anyway?

  23. WALK BY FAITH NOT SIGHT...... says:

Iam a christian and i have read many of your comments on here is it not wrong to call names, judge,or to look at a person who may not believe in god are we not of the greater sin? we need to stop and think about what god and jesus would do in the same situations and remember that jesus taught to forgive when forgiveness is needed to love thy person next to you the same as you love your self do not judge any one but pray for them we are not perfect and until we are perfect do not condem nor judge any one else. and all else remember that god and jesus see all things hear all things what do you think that he would think about the things that we say out of our mouths about others is it of him? just remember friends god loved us not just me or you but every one that he gave his only son so that we can go to heaven and that we do not have to suffer any more but in order for this to happen we need to give up worldly things trust and love him and walk in his shadow just remember jesus is soon to return and the rapture is soon to happen so please dont judge others just pray for them thats what they need.

  24. Tim says:

WALK BY FAITH NOT SIGHT, you have spoken like a true victim!

  25. ihavethesamefeeling says:

it’s not sin to discuss what is going on in the church

it is not sin to expose unfruitful works of darkness

it is not sin to call a hypocrite a hypocrite

it is not sin to call a con artist a con artist

  26. Francoi01 says:

hey guys why cant we all just get along? and for all of you christians out there if you want people to go to your church stop being such judgmental ***wholes and LEARN to love others like Jesus loved you. because I’m sure you don’t know anyone personally here.

  27. Brano says:

maybe we could all come together and have a big hug?

  28. Philip Torboe - Vanuatu says:

I am totally suprise that some christians continue to make some judgemental about Benny Hinn and his wife. They forget Matthew 7 v 1 which says ‘Judge not that you may not be judged.’ We all should be praying for Benny and Suzanne Hinn.

  29. Bene Diction says:

Philip: It is not an either/or scenario. People can pray, but it doesn’t mean they interact with blinders on.

  30. Righteous judgment says:

With regard to judgement – Jesus did say “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. ” John 7:24.
He did not forbid all judgment, but in fact demands us to judge righteous judgment.
It is imperative that leaders, ministers etc. are made accountable for their actions.

Jesus did say “That you shall know then by their FRUIT” – NOT by their news letters, TV-programs or Web-sites. The truth is always that which is behind the facade and all the religious propaganda and advertising – it is the stark reality.

There is no such things as two lives – a “private life” and “public life”.
That would be schizophrenic – Let us therfore judge righteous judgment!

  31. Brano says:

All of the early church Fathers, Apostles,Prophets… and Disciples were ALL accountable!

  32. james says:

Paul the apostle called the brethren to judge those inside the church and to let God judge those outside the church.
