The Benny Hinn and Paula White affair rumour story is starting to move slowly in the media.
If you came here through a Google search, by the way, I suggest that you please scroll back a couple of days and read Bene D’s fine posts since Friday when the story broke. I also tried to quickly analyze the actual National Enquirer story, hard copy at hand, on Saturday.
The Toronto Star, which might have pipped the Enqurier at the post to break the story in the secular media, followed it up with a little joke at the evangelist’s expense.
About an hour ago, the Christian Broadcasting Network reported on the story, with the lede that Hinn and White were denying the rumoured affair. (I predict that the denial of the affair will give the media the newspeg that they need to back into reporting the story. Expect more stories now.)

Newspapers in Sweden, according to Google Sweden, have not picked up on the Hinn-White story. In something of more concrete significance in the long term, they have picked up on a theological critique of Hinn at the conference he is attending, which Bene D explains quite well in this post from earlier today. Hopefully the whirlwind from the affair will pick up this sort of thing too.
My guess…reporters learned of this this morning, are working their phones today, and we’ll start seeing stories on Tuesday.
My second guess…Oprah will “libel chill” the current top National Enquirer story and the tabloid’s editors are now beating in the bushes in an attempt to make Hinn and White a top story for their next issue.
Agreed, the hook is the denial – that makes sense.
My thinking was The Tampa Bay Tribune would be one of the first giving this some space once the weekend was over.

PS-Please keep in mind that Benny Hinn is not yet divorced. His wife might have had someone follow him and take pictures so she has proof of what she needs for a divorce. Suzanne Hinn has the same divorce lawyer as Tiger Woods’ wife. He …is a very expensive and tough divorce lawyer. There is no way he would take Suzanne’s case if there weren’t many millions at stake. According to reports Suzanne Hinn filed for divorce, maybe this is why. She would have Biblical grounds for divorce but she surely would have to prove it. This story might just clear her name in all of this. Mrs. Hinn comes from a well known evangelical family in Florida

Hi, lately God has been telling me to STOP praying for people who do not want to repent, it is a waste of time, and its better using my time to pray for those who really need it, in that we both heard from GOD correctly. I once felt so much righteous anger from the Lord about these people but God showed a real prophet that these ministers will be removed and will have no part in end-time revival. I dont believe 100% of what they do is demonic BUT i do believe God has sent them a spirit of delusion, and God uses them STILL (bc he loves people, and its all about Him not anyone) but when time is right, they will be removed and the true shepherds brought forth. A lot of their teachings do not mention Jesus and the cross one single time, they make fun of people who are hurting (a real church HELPS and cares for the wounded), their altar calls FAKE REPENTENCE, so many wrong things….I NEEDED DELIVERANCE FROM GOING TO THOSE PLACE, also I found that these people have NO LOVE (maybe apart from Heidi Baker) and make you feel like you’re nothing and non-important just bc you’re not rich and dont have a ministry. all their christian teachings revolves around money, promotion and competition, who’s the best. NEVER EVER HAVE I ONCE HEARD: “the heart of JESUS bleeds for lost souls”. I dont think God has anything against being rich HOWEVER i think telling everyone they will be rich is HERESY.

Very interesting incident last night on Daystar. Marcus Lamb responded and revealed their own “investigation” into the matter (Benny and Paula) and made it clear changes might be taking place and that is clear wording meaning programming relating to Hinn and White on their network. Lamb stated that he has been meeting with their board and they will make the right decision regarding this matter. If there was no flame to this story, Lamb would not be making such a open statement about this at all and would just look the other way, but it tells me they know something and they are looking at the matter closely. Time will tell.
How come the top Charismatic/Pentecostal leaders in America have no integrity and believe in divorce and adultery? What about the video footage of Benny Hinn and his ministry workers. Steve Broch is seen very clearly in this video smoking pot that Hinn hands to Steve and then pats him on the back. They are all smiles in this video, smoking pot. Also one of Hinn’s assistants is seen in this video, the one that died of a heroine overdose in 1997. BENNY HINN IS A FRAUD. To think of all the little old ladies giving him their money so he can stay in $10,000 a night hotels with his lover, and have drug parties with Steve Broch. Well, I have no words. I don’t understand why it’s allowed to continue?

I love John MacArthur. True you need to read the rest of Matt. 7 not just verse 1. Talk about hyprocriticy. Read on down in verses 15 beware of false prophets. Don’t take on verse and tell us not to judge, when you are doing the same thing to Walter, judging him. Read the whole chapter, TRUE. Beware means beware, it is a warning from God to stay way from people like Benny Hinn and Paula White.

You can’t say John MacArthur preaches the True Gospel and leave out his Calvinist beliefs. One of the things John believes in is predestination. Meaning God decides, before your are born, whether you go to heaven or not. If that is the case, then we don’t need evangelism, we should be able to sin without need for repentance, there was no need for Jesus to die on the cross. It has all been predestined.
That is what you call the True Gospel? Benny Hinn is an easy target, but you won’t deal with the truth about John MacArthur. John is famous for inspiring a judgmental attitude in the people he teaches.

You believe what James Arminius believes and that is an ism. Eph. 1 says that what John MacArthur teachs is true. My best advice for you is read your bible get out of the isms because it will keep confused, frustrated and no peace or joy. Jesus did not come to die, so you could save youself. God is either Sovererign or you are by your free will. I happen to believe that God is Sovereign over everything including my salvation. This is not about John Calvin, James Arminius or John MacArthur.

Televangelist Benny Hinn asks for $2M in donations
SANTA ANA, Calif. — Televangelist Benny Hinn has posted a plea for $2 million in donations on his website.
Hinn says he accumulated the deficit in the past few months because offerings at some international appearances did not cover expenses.
Hinn’s reputation as an advocate of prosperity gospel has attracted millions of followers but has also drawn criticism from lawmakers and watchdog groups.
He is one of six televangelists who have been targeted by federal lawmakers investigating compliance with IRS rules for nonprofits.
Hinn has said on his website that external auditors ensure his compliance with IRS regulations and that in 2008, 88 percent of the money he collected was spent on ministry.
Benny Hinn Ministries is based in Texas and operates a church and television studio in Southern California.

His teachings and “miracles” were so obviously unbiblical, and his healing abilities were exposed for what they are by the CBC Fifth Estate report in 2005. Hopesome, I say Amen to that my sister in christ.
I check Benny Hinn’s tv schedule online to see what guests will be appearing that week(sometimes he features medical doctors like Dr. Eric Braverman who solely discuss nutrition and medically related issuses—unrelated to the Bible but very interesting and informative) and sometimes watch if the person sounds interesting but I skip any and all ‘preaching’ from Benny and his ‘blab it and grab it’ co-horts.
A few weeks back, I noticed Paula White was going to be appearing on his show as a featured guest so I watched out of curiosity, as she was discussing Bible fasting and this subject has always interested me (this is long before any scandel between Benny Hinn and her broke).
I distinctly remember thinking that it seemed as though they were flirting with each other as the compliments flew back and forth like two love birds in a mating dance. They were saying how attractive the other one looked and other such nauseating drivel. They were practically sloberring.
I also remember thinking that now that they’re both divorced, I wouldn’t be surprised if they began dating and sure enough….just a few weeks later, the National Enquirer broke the story.
At first I thought it might be gossip but when I saw the picture of them holding hands, forget it. That tells you everything you need to know as a picture is worth a thousand words (and in Suzanne Hinn’s case, a lotta sweet dough). They ARE an item (you don’t hold hands with someone who is just a friend). The question is HOW LONG have they been courting? (pre or post Benny and Paula’s divorces).
It boggles my mind that inspite of their lavish lifestyles, people continue to send them money. What next, wedding gifts?
How long have Paula White and Benny Hinn been together? Well, it just makes me wonder because Benny Hinn’s wife, Suzanne says they have been living apart for three years. Paula White got divorced, you guessed it, three years ago. Hmmmm maybe?

Great to read some of your postings.
I was exposed to the Toronto Airport for 4 years and was into total deception. Is is all true what you say. I challenged the leaders on the way they raise funds and spend it on themselves and got no where . I do not know how these ministries avoid prosecution by the Canada Revenue.
