Evangelist Todd Bentley is saying some, well, shall we say interesting things on a short video released two days ago..
In the run-up to releasing his video documentary on the Lakeland “revival”, filmmaker Roy Petersen is releasing various clips on YouTube.I would say that this was filmed sometime in 2009, because the interviewer makes a reference early to hearing something Bentley said “last year”. Also Bentley says at 4;08 “…I talked about it at Lakeland” (note the past tense) so 2009 it probably is.
[This raises an interesting possibility. During the lengthy restoration process, Rick Joyner referred to a “journalist” who was asking “the tough questions”. Could he have been thinking of Melinda Wilson, the interviewer in this clip?]
Did you know that Todd Bentley sent a team into a nearby hospital and “all” 65 terminally people therein were miraculously healed over the next few days?
And I kind of wonder whether Todd Bentley has the Incarnation of Christ exactly right….
Fortunately for us, the video is on YouTube:
Here’s some things in the video that I think are of interest…
Wilson begins by asking Todd Bentley how he handles when people don’t get healed.
“I’ve learned to disengage”, Bentley says. He then goes on to say that often what happens is that people are healed after they leave up to two days later.
“When I pray for you and I don’t see anything happen, my box—I just compartmentalize, I just go back to the “two days later” box, and somehow that just blots you out of my mind and I forget that I even prayed for you. I just go on….”
Is this the compassion that Jesus was often moved with when he healed? It’s one thing to persevere and to not let failure deter you from trying, but Bentley, as you can see, is matter of fact about this. He’ll have an order of Indifference with “Meh” on the side.
At 1:10, Bentley launches into a story that I want to make sure that you don’t miss.
“….we went to this one hospital and prayed for 65 terminally ill patients. My teams went into this hospital and they prayed for 65, and and and a few days later, we got the report the whole hospital was healed….It never pops back in my mind.”
Just over 12 seconds. My reporter skills might be a bit rusty, but fire sirens are going off in my head. I would have interrupted and asked “Hang on. Where was this? What’s the name of the hospital, and where is it? Who can I call to get more information? Exactly when was this?”
If this had happened at or before Lakeland, it would have been great to bring up when he was interviewed by ABC’s Nightline reporter. Remember their exchange? I can paraphrase it as Todd saying there were scads of healings that ABC could report on, while ABC reporter Jeffrey Kofman kept patiently saying that all he wanted was one.
Why didn’t questioner Melinda Wilson jump on that?
I’m also reminded of the most recent “restoration” video of Rick Joyner’s , which I blogged about here. Joyner made a great effort to say that as the restoration process has been progressing, Bentley has been more and more honest and forthright.
Mmm Hmm. I wonder how that is coming along.
They then turn to the question of of how someone wanting “the anointing” can get it
Bentley is talking about how the Lord gives the amount of gifts and graces that a person needs to do the tasks that the Lord wants them to do at that particular moment or season in their life when at 4:42 he says this:
“You don’t need the measure [of anointing] that I have if you ain’t gonna be, you know, leading world revivals, you know. Not that my gift or your gift or his gift or anybody’s is better than anybody’s, but it all comes down to calling too, and season. Jesus didn’t get his great anointing until he was thirty and he was gone by 33, you know, in one sense.”
A perhaps non-orthodox sense, Todd?
I’m not a theologian, but for me, this raises the question whether Bentley believes that as God incarnate in man, Jesus would already have any “great anointing” that He would need, but had chosen, in obedience to the Father, not to use it until he was 30—which I suspect is a more orthodox argument.
That’s the view that I have, anyways. I suspect that I may have it pretty correct, but I want to repesct your views if they differ from mine.
But what I can argue more surely is this. As this 2009 interview shows, during Bentley’s “restoration process”, there was no sign that if God had said to Bentley that His will for him was that he have only a quiet low profile ministry—or that he take a secular job– that Todd would have listened to the Lord at all. He’s called to “world revivals”. Period.
I can only note that in his most recent video about Todd Bentley, Rick Joyner also emphasized the great humility that Todd was developing.
Mmm Hmm.

I want to be very humble in advancing whether Bentley’s position on Jesus and when he was “greatly anointed” is right in the post. Hopefully that comes across all right.
just when i think i have seen the tb video to end them all, i see another–this one. what a blowhard. he seems to have put on a lot more weight since lakeland; i guess the combo of a good caring wife and the morningstar restaurants. ah, the life.
i cannot help wondering what role tb’s lakeland musicians played in his “success”? roy fields and catherine mullins warmed up the crowds well with their emotive ccw music. and roy fields alluded to it here, with his disturbing observation, “when the worship ends, God’s presence leaves the platform, and then Todd Bentley operates void of His presence.”
and that leads me to ask, “if the musicians were uncomfortable with bentley, why did they continue serving up the music–for notoriety and money?”
Rest assure it’s not that easy to access a terminally ill patient. I think that Todd Bentley has wishful thinking tempered w/misconceptions.
It sounds like to me so far, that Todd Bentley and his crew, portray Jesus as this pushover from the cosmic realm. The Bible clearly spells out that God is not a pushover for every movement out there.

The anointing Jesus had – He laid His Deity down for 33 years, He was fragile – they had to escape to Egypt.
Php 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Php 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Php 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Col 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell.”

This “revival” circuit is just that: big business. That quote of Roy Shields. Not sure he said that … hmm. I went to his site and his big product feature is the lakeland “revival”.
Curiously, bentley is not on his friends page

Strange, he says “We have served the local church since 1989″. What? He was 12 then lol.
ps: anyone got a transcript of this; I can NOT watch him or listen to his voice. Upsets my frail constitution. Hitting old ladies and sick folks is assault.
I haven’t seen on laws632 – if I do I’ll post it for you.
cbc radio doing expose on porn
I just emailed Rick Joyner and Todd Bentley. Asked…”What year this healing event occured What hosptial including city and state did this event take place? And who reported it to Todd and/or hsi staff? Waiting for a reply…look forward to hearing back on these questions. No…I am not holding my breath that a response will be forthcoming, but will hunbly post my findings if proven wrong.
Proof of the 65 healings please.
I’m still waiting for PROOF of those resurrections from the dead that happened because of Lakeland. Anyone know where I can find that? Odd that Todd or his ministry never shared the proof of that with Nightline.
Dave,
Your not holding your breath are you?
LOL Ron. Hardly.
Did anyone even actually listen to what Todd was saying in the video???
Rob transcribe it. I can’t stand looking at that devil, let alone listen to that portal of satan.
His “anointing” is real and it is NOT the Holy Spirit. Anyone who knows this creep knows he publicly enjoys satanic horror movies – let alone what he engages in privately. His dead “Jesus” and shin tattoos mock the fools that go to his rituals.
Matthew 8:28
“And when he [Jesus] came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possesed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way. And Jesus said to them, “I can’t stand to look at those devils, let alone listen to those portal’s of Satan…”
wait…thats not right
Modern type gnosticism. Yes, that’s what I think of when I recall the video.
There is a huge difference between light and dark. Jesus’ light shines so much brighter. There is a difference between error and truth. Check it out in 1John. There he gives a great proclaimation to put the true believer back on the correct path to eternal life.
light dispels darkness. light and dark cannot exist together.
Who has annointed TODD ………….
And what is Todd annointed with exactly !!
Well he has verbal dexterity – thats for sure ………..
He kind of knows the word – plus an interpretation ‘in some ways’ of it …………
He says he can heal sick people …….’sometimes’
He is full of ‘assurance that he is chosen’ ………..
He is at ease with a microphone and being ‘on stage’ …………… it seems!
He seems on occasion to exaggerate truth ……………….
He is so sure he is ‘annointed’ ………………
He loves to tell us how good he is ‘at it’ …………..
DID JESUS ANNOINT HIM …………………
Well somebody gave him an EGO thats for sure ……………
@hopesome
All who believe and receive in the saving power of Jesus’ death and resurrection are anointed to do the work that God has called them to do. The same spirit that raised Christ Jesus from the dead lives in all who believe and empowers us to carry out His work.
Update…Suprisingly?? I have received no reply from Morningstar, nor Tawd Bentley regarding the questions I raised. I thought…or was I mistaken, that Joyner and Bentley both promised that they would be more forhtcoming, and transparent during Bnetley’s restoration. Would giving the name of the hospital, city and state where the 65 miraculous healing confirm help silence the critics and those skeptical of the authenticty of such statements? No….actually, it the enumerated heresies, falsehoods, ponzi scheme tactics to make a buck mean nothing to those what gather the bevy of heretics and repriobates who need their ears tickled.
Honestly Ron, do you think that a ministry like Morningstar has time or the resources to answer every single question that is posed to them. Do u think they have paid employees sitting around waiting to answer every question posed to the legitimacy of what they do? Or a group of people whose main job is to defend every allegation? If you don’t agree with them then stay away from them. If you don’t believe the words of Todd or Rick then ignore them. By watching their videos and listening to whatever else you are opening up the door to a critical spirit. Its obvious that no matter what they do or say you will find something wrong because you and everyone else on here have already made up your minds about them. Its very easy to find fault, it doesn’t take a genius. It takes a real Christian to seek God’s heart for another person, and his heart is always good.
Yes Rob: Only today did I ‘heal the sick’ raise the dead’ and still get home in time to cook supper –
sarcasm !
No actually …………. I didn’t prophecy today though – bit risky with all those Americans vying for the prophetic attention !!
Did you save anybody today ROB
@Hope
No, i have been home working all day. Whats your point?
Sorry for butting in Ron: but rob if No 10 downing street can send a citizen who wrote to them a letter of confirmation of its receipt etc., then sure as heck morningstar can .
although i did prophecy to myself
big difference between a governing elected body and a personal ministry
You know what Rob: the Father seems to visit my town on a Saturday, probably because there’s more people that ‘worship’ there (in the town and in the shops ) than in church – its awesome – mind you with the recession and so on we needed it !………. It was so powerful a couple of weeks ago that you could actually see him and feel him ‘raise the ground’…….. It was the same a couple of Sundays ago ………….. Can’t wait to see what else he has in store………
@hope
i agree. He is moving more outside the church then in it.
Prime Minister : So what does Joyner call himself ………….. GOD!
My point ……………… someone truly annointed can and does move mountains of need, greed, and horror, …………….. can take a town out of ‘death into life’ and then go to follow through with hope the following week ………….. You are missing out is my point, on the annointing …………….. When you witness his power literally you know that Todds falls short ………… in every way …………..
I have witnessed His power for myself on many occasions. Todd isn’t perfect. We have all fallen short of the glory. Through Jesus we can get back to it, little by little, day by day.
Rob – Power in him is always used to protect – never for its own sake ……..
His power is used to heal, save and deliver.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19
This is THE purpose of the anointing.
Rob…actaully point well taken and received, honestly thanks for the correction. To answer your question no I don’t think they have people employed for the sake of answering my or anyone else’s questions. Conversely…they don’t, because they don’t ahve to. The promise was made by them, that Bentley would be more careful, that Joyner would discuss matters regarding his restoration, and the errors, sins and other “issues” with Tawd> But make no mistake Rob, Bentley and Joyner are some of the most transparent liars and charlatans I have ever listened to. Bentley hasn’t been “restored”. Bentley, committed adultery, several times, he didn’t manage his household well, he is essentially a Gnostic heretic, who scammed money at Lakeland (he confessed that). Jessa (you know the one employed to assist his ailing wife, with their childrem, and Bentley CHOSE together to destroy a marriage and a family, and have the audacity to flee to Hawaii, get hitched, and then go to Morningstar for “restoration. Bentley is completely unqualified, personally, theologically from handing out the morning bulletin. In fact, if Joyner really had a theological sound position rooted and grounded in the Truth regarding marriage, and divorce, and healing, and signs and wonders, SIN, Bentley would be as he should be set outside unless he repents. That isn’t going to happen…sadly I believe ever. My hope in writing is this….maybe someone reads what email will awake from their slumber, and flee for their spiritual lives away from Bentley and Joyner and other’s ensnared in the enumerated heresies promoted by those who call themselves Apostles and Prophets…when biblically speaking, theological truth shows us they ARE NOT.
The point of agreement with you Rob, is I need to focus more on simply knowing Christ, more deeply more intimately. But one cannot love Jesus, and not HATE falsehoods. And what we are witnessing in these last days, as promised by Christ, is many are being swept away by massive deception, and transparent deceivers. And like Paul, we are commanded to contend for the faith to warn, correct, rebuke with sound doctrine. Many would rather have their ears tickled, and are accumulating unto themselves false teachers who will do just that. Todd and those in the NAR camp, are not getting remotely close “little by little”, day by day” to the Glory of God. They are rapidly falling away from it, with their lust for power, position, fame, sexual sin, which are all symptamatic of heretics.
I must have been walking in Luke 4: 18-19 that day in the town then ……. Thank you ROB
Maybe Todd and I should get together and share annointings !!!! ………. Oh well, another busy day of delivering and healing tomorrow – theres just no let up is there – the enemy never sleeps you know !
God Bless
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
I wonder if she’s telling the truth lord !! ……………………………..
IS TODD BENTLEY !!
Thanks for watching my video everyone.
With Melinda’s interview with Todd, I don’t think she was going for an investigative report– I wasn’t either. So, our model was not ABC News, who if you understand objectively their reporting style, it was a very slanted report on Todd and the Lakeland outpouring.
Melinda was just asking some questions more personal in nature to where she was at, and I think Todd answered fairly and it gives a lot of insight to what many revivalists/charismatics believe.
Ain’t nothing wrong with that. Peace.
@Hope
glad to hear the testimony. keep it goin.
@Ron
I agree. That is my one desire to know Christ, deeply and intimately.
There is a difference between hating a person and hating a falsehood. I don’t have a problem with people who disagree with Todd’s lifestyle or ministry. The problem I have is when people speak hate and negativity towards Todd, instead of praying for him as we are commanded to do. We can judge the spirit a person is walking in without judging the person. No matter how wrong or sinful the person is, they are still a child of God made in his image. They deserve the love and mercy of Christ just as we have received.
Paul’s command to warn, rebuke and correct can only be done out of relationship. If we do not have a relationship with a person we are in no position to offer them correction or rebuke, otherwise we risk doing it the wrong spirit and not out of love.
Rob: Praying for Todd is speaking out about what we see as falsehood in him ……….. ie: lord this is so wrong do something about it ………. The Father hears our every word and interprets in his will what it is we are seeking and saying …………… and then on our behalf ‘goes into action’ ………… The Father is not deaf to our call for his intervention – he is not deaf to our desire to witness him – but the falsehood is so prevalent at this time as he begins to ‘move in’ that the enemys mouth piece will stop at nothing to prevent his glory from witnessing to us as they hang on with ALL THEIR MIGHT TO THEIRS ……….. If you want the truth and the one true god who brings it then ‘don’t weaken in your journey through the lies …………. Jesus was mighty and powerful – he joined forces with the father to allow him to be more so and then we are told that ONE WILL COME WHO IS GREATER THAN I ………….. in that context then we only have a guide as to the witness of the one who will come …………. but were told by Jesus he will be greater than I …………… thank you for the testament you said ………….. but I see it did not ‘move you ‘ ……. why …….. probably because of unbelief in who and why and how he mightily moves when he has too ……………… Todd calls mighty saving 1.000 souls etc., HOWEVER WHEN YOU WITNESS HIS (the true God) MOVE THEN THERE IS NO DOUBT IN YOUR MIND AS TO HIS INTENTIONS, HIS REASONS, HIS POWER,………………. We doubt Todd and his gem sprinkling, emma’s, so so testimonies of healing and so on ………….. our prayer is Lord are we justified in our doubts and worries and fears …. If Todd walks in the spirit then to my mind I suspect that which clothes him …………… my testimony was not to proove that god moves, that he is with us, that I love him even, but to say ‘watch out’ don’t mess with him, don’t assume you’can get away with lies on such a grand scale’ …… and please when you challenge that which is in your hope to do so remember that his challenge to you is DO YOU REALLY KNOW ME …………… So far he has been gracious with the status quo of our knowledge, thinking, being and taking from him and his,………….. He does not have to be ………………. I have recently witnessed his proof that not only will he remove grace – not only will he remove that which prevents his love and life, but if necessary he will remove there prescense from his ………….. He showed me one night walking home what it was like without his grace ………… stripped naked from his prescence is to be in the total control of the enemy and his ways and will …………. fear, you have no idea what that means …………. It made me not only aware of how much he cared for me and us but how we so do take him and his for granted …. say a prayer, then, thank you lord and we, for the most part, walk away leaving him the responsibility to ‘sort it’, it was sobering for me to be shown his honour ……….. never mind his abounding great mercy …………. Todds spirit leaves questions……….. the Fathers never ever does ………..
@Hope
The most powerful and effective prayers are those that are prayed in unity with the mind of Christ. In every situation we need to seek and know what the will of God is and pray according to it. Its not praying and hoping it is His will, true prayer is knowing the will and coming into agreement with it. We need to be praying with His spirit and allow His spirit to pray through us (Romans 8:26). What is God’s heart for Todd? What is his desire for him? What is His will for the situation? These are things we need to search out and pray accordingly.
I believe that the moment we open our mouth to others in regard’s to someone else’s faults and sin we disqualify ourselves from any authority in praying for them. I’ve seen so many things said in the name of “praying” that have been used as an excuse to gossip or slander. “Did you hear about so and so? We should pray for them.”
I think you are confusing the words of John the Baptist and Jesus. JTB testified of one who is coming that is greater meaning Jesus. Jesus never said someone was coming that was greater than Him. He only promised the Holy Spirit which He said would be better not greater. The Spirit leads into all truth. The Spirit convicts of sin and unrighteousness. “He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.” Wow that is a powerful statement.
Lets be honest here in saying that many of us are trying to do the work of the Holy Spirit. We preach, warn, and rebuke others with our words in hopes that they will be convicted, but only the Holy Spirit can convict. No, your testimony does not and should not ‘move’ me. A testimony can make people fear or make people excited but in the end it is the Spirit that has the true power to reach the hearts of others. “The kindness of the Lord leads to repentance.”
Because the Spirit lives inside of us we are never ‘naked’ and without His presence. The enemy has no power over us. The only power he has is what we give him. Fear opens the door to the enemy. “For the thing that I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me. I am not at ease, nor am I quiet; I have no rest, but trouble comes” (Job 3:25-26).
Rob: You are happy with your version of who you think he is, is comfortable and for the most part easy and digestible to partake of ……..
John 14:28
He joined forces with the Father who was/is greater than the sum total of Jesus.
I did not join the nicey nicey Christian Camp Rob … Why… I found that to many people did not like the fact that they didn’t practice what they preached .. I decided to be a pilgrim, no ties that bind that way ………. just free to walk with him …..
@Hope
“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.”
Psalm
103:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
13 As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
14 For he knows our frame; [1]
he remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children’s children,
18 to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments.
19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his word,
obeying the voice of his word!
21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts,
his ministers, who do his will!
22 Bless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
This is not my ‘VERSION’ of the Lord. This is the Lord. He called David a man after His own heart.
@Hope
When you have been through what I have in my life the Lord’s goodness, love and mercy is NOT easy to partake of or digest. It is easy to say God is good when things in your life are good, but when the testing and trials come are we still able to standup and thank the Lord for his goodness and love? This is what I am learning.
Rob:
David has been used by those who wish to ‘wash there sins’ to a palatable place of acceptance (ie Joyner and Bentley used his name in relation to Todd etc.,) We can USE the biblical to justify just about anything we choose to …… therein lies the danger for us, not the enemy, but us ………. thats why I wanted the practice not the preaching (as such, being more of a practical person at heart anyway!) Ok lord all thats fine, now show me what it means in practice …… Not so that I can be above others, not so I can brag to others, not so I can be ‘known ‘to others BUT BECAUSE I NEED TO KNOW …. only then can I worship and bring testament to you in full honours ……….. otherwise I would be a false witness…… When I was ‘going through trials’. as you put it, he showed me who had brought them and why ……. it hurts when you ‘get behind the human nature’ and see what motivates it …. and so he had to ‘hold me fast as he did so’. He has never let me be deceived and held me fast as he showed me those that do …… There was no way I could worship unless I knew what and why I should ….. How do I worship him ………….. that depends on where he needs me to be and why ……… Do I preach to people about him ……….. depends on who and why I am speaking to someone and on their circumstances that I ‘walk into’, sometimes his glory speaks for both me and him, sometimes its not his glory he shows but his rebuke, its about him showing me who he is when and why …. Lord I have £1 in my pocket how do I make dinner for two, (that actually happen’d once) is of as much import to me as are his ‘miracles’ , as we have come to call them and as yet he has never let me down or drown ……….. Do I praise him – yes – ‘each day as I survive it ‘………..
@Hope
I am not using David to justify mine or anyone’s sin. I am using him to show the very nature of God. David knew his heart more than most. Did David sin, yes very much so. Did he feel the weight of God’s anger and judgement, of course. Was he remorseful and repentant, I should say so. Through all that, however, David knew and understood the merciful, loving, slow to anger and abounding in love character and heart of God. Are there people out there who use his mercy and grace as an excuse to keep sinning, yes of course, but He will deal with them in time. Sometimes in a loving and kind way, sometimes through trials and tribulation.
@Hope
and yes practice over preaching. experience over words. I can hear and read all about God but I have to experience Him for myself before I have true revelation.
