Tonight! At our casino! Engelbert Humperdinck and…Todd Bentley?!?

Thanks a lot to Bene D, who passes along some information about Todd Bentley that might give pause to some of his followers.

Bentley will be beginning his crusade in Reno Nevada tomorrow (Oct. 7), yet it is already being called “Reno Outpouring”. Just like the Lakeland Outpuring, you are supposed to think.

But guess where Bentley is holding his crusade, according to the host church’s website? At a room in the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino in Reno.

If you can’t wait to give away money until Todd Bentley’s offering, you can leave it in the resort’s “80,000 square feet” casino. Don’t care to gamble on Todd’s ability to get a word from the Lord for you? There’s also a “Lucky’s Race and Sports Book”

The host church, River Rock Christian Fellowship often hosts events at the hotel/casino, but it does have a facility that it rents that might be totally adequate for Bentley’s visit.

I really doubt that there isn’t a non-gambling oriented facility that the church can’t find to rent. Even in Abbotsford B.C., which is smaller than Reno, Bentley was able to rent a facility seating several hundred people a mere football punt away from his old church. It wasn’t even the biggest facility in the area.

Bentley may want to “hunt where the ducks fly.” He might think that the media may appreciate the irony of a “revival” in a casino. But this is lacking in sense.

What about the Christians who just won’t go into a casino for moral reasons? Does Bentley not care to minister to them?

What about Christians who want a blessing but have a problem with gambling and have been counselled to stay away from casinos?

This raises something else to consider. We know that Bentley wants a TV reality show. We know that observers like Ray William Johnson already see him as hilarious, if not buffoonish, entertainment.

Is Bentley reaching for glitz in addition to substance as a regular thing now?

If so, Reno is an appopriate place to start over.

I agree. There are lots of promises of ‘revival’ through ways in which it will not come. The ‘system’ isn’t set up to accommodate it. Jesus doesn’t want or need a system. He wants life, love and community flowing through the body of believers. It may look like ‘church’ in some places and others it may not.

name of “uncle”? And did he have a heart attack in 9/11/2006 …. “To All Fresh Fire friends, we ask that you would please keep Todd Bentley and Fresh Fire Ministries in your prayers at this time. Todd had a heart attack on Saturday night in Uganda, Africa, after preaching at the last night of the miracle festival. He was taken to the hospital where he had another heart attack.” 2x means it is of God perhaps?
Gen 41:32 “Gen 41:32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God.”
Job 33:14 For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. ”
    A realistic report of a “miracle$” meeting ..

Here is an interesting story my uncle told me once:

They had gone into a remote jungle to minister to tribes that had never seen white men before. Some of them were even cannibals and dangerous. They went to one tribe and asked the chief if they could preach the gospel and he replied “Over my dead body.” The next day the chief dropped dead. His brother came to the Lord and allowed them to preach to the entire village. Amazing stuff!

Rob: What the Father wants is that we know him and that we dwell in his will…….. Mans will has brought nothing but war and dissention, poverty and loss, to name but a few ……… Sitting in the Fathers will you are shown a way to restore not revile ….. Todd does not sit in that place ……….. Your Uncle has effectively quoted ‘life for a life’ I hope he didn’t mean it that way !! ……….. The life Jesus takes as he walks is that which ‘death lingers in’ and defiance stands! …..

not sure what you meant by “life for a life.” please explain.

We made it back from Reno…no portals to report, no evidence of anything actually. We spent a lot of time out and about and never saw anything to indicate that the Bentley circus was in town at all. Nothing in the newspaper, nothing on the TV….just another day in Reno apparently.

Let me start with the “Reno Outpouring” has been called the Reno outpouring for two years now. Todd Bentley had no part in naming the event. Also the Reno Outpouring has been held in Casino’s for the last two years and again Todd Bentley had no part in where it would be held. And for you people who think christian events shouldn’t be held in a casino. We are called to go into all the world and preach the gospel. And that is right. Even in the casino’s. I personally have held bible sudies in the casino’s in the past and seen many come to Christ through holding them in a casino. Unfortunatley a fellow christian who was the Human resource director at this casino thought it to be inappropriate for a casino. So go ahead all you dignified christians who still think wearing a tie at church should be mandatory, and that someone might find Jesus in casino building offending. Go ahead and keep having your church in a building that you consider appropriate. But remember that Jesus went to the places you personally will not go. And he witnessed to the people you will not talk too. And he prayed and layed hands on the people you will not touch. But please do those christians a favor who are in Gods will and going where you will not go. Quit harrassing them and start praying that God can find them even more places for them to preach the gospel. God Bless you all.

    re Reno Outpouring”
lol the 2nd button from home is “GIVE”. aka “support”. They also state “Because we are a non-denominational church we have no pressure to teach unscriptural beliefs or doctrines yet our covering is from the largest Protestant fellowship in the world.”

WOW! The largest “covering”. WoF false doctrine no less. On the welcome page they have a picture of some hippie. I guess that long-hair (contrary to scriptures) is their depiction of God, LOL.
