Robert A. Schuller Jr. on Canadian tv show

In this 10 minute interview on 100 Huntley Street, Robert Schuller Jr. talks about leaving The Crystal Cathedral, reconciling with his father and his plans for his company.
News reports in California state the Schuller family continued to receive salaries from the church even with the family squabble, and as the Cathedral filed for bankruptcy last month. The church owes about 40 million dollars and is run by Robert A. Schuller Jr.’s sister.

After his ouster from the California mega-church in 2008 Robert Schuller Jr. bought a share in a US TV network (AmericanLife TV) along with his son-in-law (founder of GodTube). Their company is called ComStar Media Fund LP.

The interview cuts off at the end, Schuller is talking about AmericanLife TV using commericals instead of fund raising telethons.

Update: As a commenter kindly points out, the interview is in two parts. Here is the second. Schuller continues his discussion of his business model for religious television.

Update: For some substance The New York Times has an article on what occurred and where Robert A. Schuller is going with his tv network. Hint: more family. Debts and Disputes Cloud the Crystal Cathedral

Update: I commented to a friend who follows media that Robert Schuller Jr. wasn’t just passing through Burlington for a friendly little interview. I wondered if there was a distribution deal being made. Yep.

It is a most open dialogue of the leaving of CCM, the process of reconciliation and the positive plan unfolding for Rev Dr Robert A Schuller

Thought the Reverend Doctor was less than candid and even a bit disdainful if I read him right. It’s telling that he used the term “going to work” to describe ministry life, and mentioned the need to support his family…I assume in the style to which they had been accustomed.

RE. comment by “???ese at 12:50 PM” (the full name and date were overlaid by an icon of some sort): Have you ever been responsible for the spiritual needs of many other people, tending to their sorrows, their concerns, in many cases their very existance on a 24/7/365 basis, often with little or no assistance or gratitude? Have you comforted the grieving, sat with families in hospitals as their loved ones faltered and died? Have you ministered to the homeless and needy, not just on the random holiday when you ” felt good doing something for the less fortunate”? Yet these dedicated ministers have chosen this life “style” as you call it, and it is a “JOB”, doing GOD’S work faithfully and continuously for many decades. You know nothing of their personal “lifestyle” or families, so don’t be so critical about something you obviously personally know little. GOD Bless!
