Political conspiracy theories usually make me laugh. But I don’t think it that amusing when Christians, who should know better, wander into the fever swamps. And I’ve found a new example of all these poisoned streams starting to mix.
Rick Joyner was recently on Sid Roth’s TV show It’s Supernatural, with a prophetic dream, that the “foundations” of the United States are burning and it is up to the church to run and get a garden hose and put out the fire. Fair enough, but in addition to selling his message “Will America Survive 2011″ through Roth’s program, he is still peddling the wacky conspiracy theories of William Boykin.
The retired US lieutenant-general’s latest video message is available along with Joyner’s message through Roth’s program. in addition to this a few minutes of this episode of Sid Roth’s program with Rick Joyner is given over to several of Boykin’s theories. Namely, that the financial bailout in the US is a defacto nationalization of property in a Marxist way, as happened in Castro’s Cuba. Obamacare will be a socialist redistribution of wealth. Moreover, the enabling leglislation of Obamascare contains a small clause that allows Obama to set up his own private citizen army.
As someone who is conservative, I believe that you can critique Obama and his policies. But, lapsing into the nutty, or helping people to spread their nuttiness, is disrespectful. It’s also unChristlike.
I’m reminder of something that William F. Buckley, who worked to discredit the John Birch Society amongst conservatives, once wrote. I won’t be able to remember it in his articulate way, but he argued that it is wrong to assume that people always know the bad effects of what they might advocate. Thus, it’s usually safer to assume that your rhetorical opponents aren’t part of a big bad conspiracy.
The John Birch Society published a book that argued Buckley was a “pied piper” for the communists’ allies, but I think that he was very wise. If conservative Christians in the US want their critique of Obama to be listened to, they need to be sure that their concerns are solid and factual. Speculating that Obama may be readying to have a new version of Hitler’s brown shirts makes you sound incredible, and not like Jesus, at the same time.

Rick, the sad part is there are a lot of people who will believe the scare tactics and the whole conspiracy theory, after all, it may usher in a one-world government.
Now, here’s the scarier part and that is the clause you mention, “Moreover, the enabling leglislation of Obamascare contains a small clause that allows Obama to set up his own private citizen army.” Just imagine if this clause exists at a time should, dog forbid, Sarah Palin come into power! What a glorious day that will be… NOT!!!
let me ps my comment for those who may not get my sarcasm: a lot of us have vivid dreams that dredge up and seamlessly tie together disparate horrific distortions. should we take those dreams as prophecies or nightmares? if i had the distress of keeping a bloated and blighted operation afloat that my ego and stupidity ensnared me into “buying”, it would comfort me in knowing that there are sensationalists around who will market my nightmares and all of us can make money.

I did not say Charismatics were hyper. I said hyper (neo) Charismatics. One is an individual trait/behavior, the other is a sect or branch of a larger group.
ie: I’m hyper because I had 5 Red Bulls.
ie: Hyper Charismatics attribute non biblical manifestations to The Holy Spirit.
ie: Hyper Charimania teaches self effort can control circumstances (health/wealth/prosperity/dominionism)
Hyper is a valid theological term and prefix. You’ll see it used at Charisma.

If you were introduced to faith through the New Apostolic Reformation you’d care about what happens to the self-appointed apostles such as the ones named in the comment above mine. Rick Joyner, Sid Roth are NAR apostles. Patrica King is hyper-charismatic in every meaning of the definition.

Ironic of course that they exposed a real conspiracy which caused The US President to resign and his senior staff to go to jail.
The only thing I would add to this debate is think of Russia in 1911. No one believed that by 1917 it would have changed so dramatically and be closing churches, persecuting Christians, banning The Bible in what had been a very religious country. Nor that The State would oppose free enterprise, free speech, free thought.
Few in 1932 (including German Jews) believed Hitler would do the things he did do. Few very sharp shrewd politicians believed he would invade Czechoslovakia and Poland. Few world leaders at The Evian Conference in France in 1938 thought the Jews were in real mortal danger.
Only God knows the future for any country including The USA, although if we see Psalm 83 happen and much more of Matthew 24 and Luke 21 THEN we may have a clue to the time on his Time Clock.
Obama will stand or fall on whether he blesses Israel (Genesis 12 verse 3). American Christians who pray for the President to do that are praying for God to bless their nation. Their freedoms are a blessing. If God blesses, they stay free. If not, then not.
The Christians watching the Jews being persecuted in Russia in the pogroms never realised their agreement or indifference would rebound on them. The Germans electing Hitler, ignoring his written work and his speeches expressing anti-semitism, were on the wrong side of Genesis 12 v 3.
Evil men and corrupt men at all levels of wealth and power will lie and some lie with others. Bad apples sometimes group together. Low level people can agree to rob houses in a team. High level bankers or lawyers can embezzle together. Even higher level super rich and political elite may be tempted to do things most of us think are unthinkable. The Holy Spirit will stop them until He who hinders will hinder no more.

British MPs and House of Lords members are now on trial each week for expense fraud explaining YES they did it BUT everyone was doing it because they did not want it to look like they had big salaries, but it is ok because everyone was doing it. Amazingly the jury is convicting them all and yet they still do not plead Guilty.
A lot of powerful people just think they are being smart or doing what everyone does, that the normal rules do not apply to the elite few.
The natural impulse of fallen man is to enslave others. The restraint is the Judeo-Christian faith. Where it is strong, freedom abounds. Where not, slavery flourishes.
So who knows ?
Well Jesus knows and let’s just trust in Him for our Protection and Freedom.
