I’m asking readers of BDBO to take some time and pray for the people of Christchurch New Zealand.
The South Island has been hit by another catastropic earth quake, measuring 6.3 on the Richter Scale; if you’ve been following the news, you’ll know that 65 people are dead and unknown numbers are injured and missing as I write this.
Shallow and strong aftershocks are continuing – and it will continue to be a sad and terrifying time over the next couple of days as recovery operations continue. The New Zealand Herald and TV3 are providing outstanding coverage and timely information for those affected by the quake and for those seeking information about friends and family.
Reporter Olivia Carville and her cameraman hit the streets moments after experiencing the quake in their office. Their video is raw and sobering.
Google has set up a people finder and the main Twitter accounts for those seeking information on loved ones are #EQNZ and New Zealand’s Civil Defense is running a Twitter feed here.

We have acquaintances on the south island and are principally worried about their safety. One of them lives in a multi-story apartment house in Christchurch and we visited her while vacationing in this stunning country. Hopefully we will learn that she survived without grievance.
New Zealand experiences thousands of earthquakes annually, mostly too small to be felt. Between 1992 and 2007, New Zealand experienced over 30 earthquakes of magnitude 6 or more.
God has absolutely nothing to do with this tragedy. Earthquakes in New Zealand occur because the country is situated on the boundary of two major tectonic plates – the Pacific Plate and the Australian Plate.
Maybe Your humans is on to something AAB. Maybe Christchurch is in ruins at the hand of an angry god. Maybe…just maybe…

Your Humans and some friends were camping out, when suddenly in the pitch black, and without warning, something struck and killed a fellow camper who was Your Human’s very best friend. Before Your Humans could call out to God, something struck and instantly killed another dear friend. and then yet another missile killed the remaining friend …. until ….only Your Humans was left alive.
“Please God, stop killing us.” cried Your Humans!!! When without warning a huge boulder crushed Your Humans skull, and silenced the voice in the night. The campsite was littered with huge rocks from the unexpected slide raining down from the steep hill adjacent to the camp.
Nearby a huge sign bore witness to the tragedy. DANGER – ROCK SLIDES IN THIS AREA.
