Suffice it to say that Todd Bentley knows what colour his parachute is.
An e-mail, quietly released a few days ago, reveals that the evangelist is making plans for every scenario.
It relates to a company called Sound of Fire Productions, which has a small online store to sell Todd Bentley’s materials. At the time that it became prominent, it was operated by Dave Bentley–Todd’s father–and his second wife. Catch the quickly set up info page when you can, as it lists the ministry as being started in “19__” with Dave and his wife as “overseers”.
Dave Bentley has dipped his toes into evangelism too. I once, during the early days of the “Lakeland revival” saw him pinch-hitting for Todd Bentley at a Fresh Fire event. He had prophetic words for people, laid hands on them for healing and such.
After the collapse of Lakeland, Todd faced a quandary. The old Fresh Fire charity in Canada closed down the old Bentley online store. Sound of Fire stepped into the breach, selling his materials from their Ladysmith B.C. base.
Fast forward to last week, and the announcement of the founding of Sound of Fire, USA on April 1.
Says the e-mail:

A BRAND NEW DAY! We will now be able to timely help all of our customers with USA and all International orders.

I wonder what happened to Dave and Darcia Bentley. Have they been asked to leave?
Why would Todd and Jessa Bentley need to a private company to sell their materials? Well, it’s not unknown amongst Christians. Steve Schultz’s The Elijah List store arm is a for-profit company. Oral Roberts began with a private company in the 1950s, Healing Waters Inc.
But there is nothing stopping a ministry from selling Todd’s materials. Nothing at all. It is the usual thing.
If Todd was anticipating spending many years in faultless ministry, it would be the given thing to do to route sales through a ministry.
But, after Todd lost control of the old Canadian Fresh Fire, ministry board, he was forced to set up the new Canadian company, which is now in the U.S..
I am hoping that Rick Joyner has ensured that the new Fresh Fire USA board is not stuffed with Todd’s cronies, and that, as the old Canadian Fresh Fire charity did, they can tell Todd “Either quit or we are firing you” if any misdeeds on his part take place.
Now, with his transplanted company, Todd gains some advantages.
With a private company, your books never have to be opened to the public, unlike a charity or a ministry.
Todd can now go to a private model for his work. No collections or donations ever. You have to buy admission to a space in his meetings (which keeps out the great unwashed and those wanting to publicly rebuke Bentley) and his materials. As there is no oversight, other than Todd, he can crank up his profit margins.
Todd Bentley can never be forced out of Christian work again. A private company is immune to anything that his new ministry board might do.
What’s odd about all this is that Todd Bentley, in all the various Rick Joyner restoration videos, is insisting that he is a changed man.
Then why set up a way to defy everyone and continue ministry if Joyner and his friends were to come to feel that Bentley should not continue in ministry for some reason?
Is Todd Bentley planning in case he falls?
If he needs to plan for the worst, then why assume that his ministry work will only be the best? Todd isn’t, as demonstrated by this action.
If Todd thinks he may fail and need to go totally on his own, as demonstrated by this privatization of some of his work, don’t we need to notice that he has a possible “Plan B”?
So how is a convicted sex offender even allowed into the USA? Somebody should dig into the unregistered sex offender angle. Is he even registered in the state he lives in? Anyone know if that is NC or SC?
One thing is for sure,Todd will keep on selling his wares!

He did his time as a juvenile, I don’t know if Immigration has any access to Cdn records, which as I said before are sealed. Bentley was the one who made the information public, not the Cdn justice system.
I don’t know which state he and his wife live in – but he operates out of Morningstar Ministries in SC.

Why are Gods people so hung up on the person who carries the blessing?
What is the importance of all this critisism about Todd?
It isn’t about the books, it isnt about his past however far back you want to go. It is about Gods glory and the anointing Todd has on his life. And He is surely as anointed now as he was before. The only question is this; can Todd still deliver what God has for us?
What is it with so many Christian people? God works through a man and that is great until they dont like him anymore? Then suddenly they want no part of Gods blessing we experience through him. I guess they know better than God does. I’m sure glad God isn’t the head of the Christian church. With some of the condemnation I hear none of us would even get saved. My apology to all the good pastors out there but I think I have made my point. I have noticed that Christian people like to sit on the throne of Christ.
God is grace and mercy this minute and for all time. Yesterday left with the moon. To be in Gods perfect will now and making ourselves available is all that God needs to bless His people. Why do the people insist on so much complication?

Apparently someone named Jesus Christ doesn’t agree with Duane.
“But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. ” – Matt. 5:32

Evidently Duane doesn’t have the problem with someone committing adultery as long as they’re ‘anointed’.
Oh and by the way Duane, how about documentary evidence of the ’21 resurrections’ Todd claimed? Haven’t been able to find any evidence whatsoever. Shouldn’t be a problem for you to find the evidence since he’s so ‘anointed’, right?
In the past many people surrounded Todd Bentley. Multitudes fought for a chance to have him just pray over them.
Now I wonder, just how effective a witness was Todd for Jesus Christ? Many messages of the miraculous healings, and why? Jesus never proclaimed his healings on a platform, because he did not want to divert his ministry and have people crown him as a king.
One thing that stands out for me about Jesus’ healings, is that faith in Jesus Christ produced amazing results. Not the people calling from a platform. Just pure faith in Jesus.
I see that those who are in need of a true miracle can be expected to be preyed on. Why? There are many swindlers out there and false prophets. Jesus on the other hand, always showed compassion for those in pain–and helped the ones who situations appeared bleak. Jesus still does it, without the platform.
I do have a problem with adultry as I am a married man and faithful husband. I believe in staying in there with your spouse for better or worse with the exception of the A word. Then I would reconsider my comitment to the marriage.
But hey?
What I keep hearing is the person messed up thats it for him?
No more ministry, we are going to continue to slam and condemn.
Grace, mercy, love and a God of second chances is or Lord.
If God has forgiven then God has already forgotten. Can you?
I dont know anything about healing miracles that have been spoken of but I have been at Todds meetings and what I do know is that the “greater glory” of God he speaks of is very real. I also know that many people have been blessed through him. In spite of the wrong he has down, he has sewn into the Kingdom of God and shouldnt be held back from continueing to do so.
Our salvation is in spite of all of us.
Getting ourself right with God is by a gift of repentance and with our surrender.
Remember, if it not be by the grace of God because of what Christ did on the cross none of us could be saved. No one of us is any better than the next. The only thing we can have that is worthy of God is what we contain which is He himself. What we have of the Eternal is the true measure.
I have some opinions about the Christian church itself but so long as the Holy Spirit continues to show up then it is good enough for me.

Yes Godly character and accountability to God Himself should go hand in hand with the anointing. But there are many complex issues of the human being.

My questions are when does it end? When is it enough persecution for wrong doings and who decides this? Does the pointing fingure ever go away? Shouldn’t we be spending our energy being more concerned about keeping our own back yard clean?
Lets say for a moment that you have a problem with forgiving someone for there trespasses. If God has forgiven the person then where does that leave you in the eyes of God?
I just think that people have a bad habit of putting themselves in the judgement seat. I will have my own short comings and if I was someone else then I would have theirs. So why do people have such a difficult time just leaving things like this behind as God wants to do?
Go to Todds meetings some time and see for yourself what God is or isn’t doing.

The Body desperately needs REVELATION of this and to to fall on OUR faces and repent for Condemning what and Who He loves and chooses! He resists the PROUD but gives Grace to the Humble! You can fail miserably and Humble yourself before Him and Find Mercy!!! You can not Fail but be so Proud of Not failing that He will resist YOU!!! May we as a body NOT reject who He chooses! the problem here is this: Rick and Todd did what they wanted despite what the body of Christ wanted: repentance; marriage reconciliation or at least time between marriages to discern the will of God(Todd committed adultery and Shonnah had biblical reason to leave him); rebuilding of public trust; humility through working a job; discontinuance of lies in the pulpit, ie gold dust, stigmata, translations back in time, angels named Emma, supernatural character via angelic surgery; prosperity angels, etc. Now they run on flesh.
I also would like to say that Bentley got saved in a culture of making up spiritual experiences to promote ministry and gain fame and attention…and money. This is what he knows. That is the fault of leadership around him, who do the same thing. Until he digs into the Word and thirsts for righteousness, he will continue to be deceived by spiritual elitism and pride, a polluting force in what used to be known as the toronto blessing.
I grew up in a charismatic church and learned hyper faith and prosperity. It took God a good twelve years to deliver me from that mess. I still at times feel entitled because of the prosperity gospel.
The word is our guide. That’s the truth.
i would also like to say that it is true that ministers fail. they sin. we all do. but remember, Todd has been lying about visions and experiences for years, and those lies drove him to the top of his ministerial circles. he has not been walking in integrity for years. exactly how to we tolerate a preacher who lies about visions and experiences with God? and still does so? he built his ministry on lies. he is unrepentant about that. he should not be in the pulpit therefore, but people’s ears itch. this is not about grace and mercy toward a fallen brother, it is about a crook and deceiver in the pulpit. God would have us wise about that.

Just because you dont receive something of God or dont understand it dont criticize it. I was never at the Toronto Blessing but I was one who spent 6 years in the same kind of spiritual revival in Vancouver. Rodney Howard Browne came to our church in about 1996 it happened where our church came into a greater glory of God. It was fantastic. Great abundance of joy, healings, people geting set free from struggling sins and peoples lives became the better for it.
There is a new standard of the closeness of God in the Christian church today. I dont know what all is going on out there in the churchs but I am not to surprised about all the bizzar things you hear about. When God comes close it is as strange as He Himself is to us because He is not like us. These things that sound strange are not going to go away they are only going to become more abundant. These are the last days and Gods power is going to move across this planet like never before. I personally am not going to say yeah ot nay about it until I sit in a meeting with them.
If you want this greater glory of God press in -press in -press in and maybe you will find it to be real. If you dont then maybe it isnt for you at this time. I am sure there are plenty that you can trust stay with them, “stay safe.” Keep going in the faith you have but I would be careful of the criticism. You just may be mocking God.

There is a prophet in scripture call Balaam. He claimed he could only speak for God, and no amount of money would change that decision. The story goes on to explain how Balaam made an inappropriate suggestion to the Moabites. For this, Balaam entered into a conflict with God. Balaam made the suggestion for money. Bottomline, this caused Balaam to be killed by the sword. He lost site of the God of Heaven for money.
This sin still occurs today. There is a sin God hates, and that is to deny his word. That’s where you will find the “two edged sword”.
We are not called to ‘seek the greater glory’. This is propagated by those who have lost (or indeed never had), sight of the great mandate.
We are called by God to do one thing, and one thing only — to go into all the world and share the good news of how much He loves the world without discrimination, as shown through the person of Jesus Christ (Mark 16: 15).
Seeking the ‘greater glory’ isn’t sharing the gospel. Telling people they are going to die and go to hell if they are homosexual or had an abortion, is also not the gospel. Talking about the endtimes – although good in itself – is not the gospel.
At the risk of being redundant, the Gospel is the story of how God reached out in love to the entire world, through the finished work of Jesus Christ at the cross, and in His resurrection from the dead.
Everything else is frequently little more than a distraction.

The very reason we are here is to glorify God and we can only do that through Jesus. The only thing we can have that is worthy of God is what we recieve that -is- Him.
Its all about the glory.
Seeking the glory of God is not a distraction its a privilage to be able to get close.

In the Lord Jesus Christ there is always more to be had. It doesnt stop at salvation and sharing the good news.
It kills me how people say we should seek the Lord and then shun Him when He shows up. Believe me when I say; when He shows up it is a greater glory than what we know or can possibly imagine.
When Moses through the power of God parted the Red Sea, would you have been one to make it to the other side or would you have been the one who was chasing after them and drown when the water came down?
God is power. Great glorious power. And because of what Christ did on the cross we can recieve that power in our lives.

Dwayne: I agree that God has a quirky almost strange side to Him. I too have seen these things in Rodney or Toronto meetings. However, some of these claims of God doing this or that are just plain lies. Joshua Mills for example is a huge liar.
You can’t believe everything you hear in pulpits today, especially River pulpits. The diamond dust, gemstone, translation back in time, money angel, etc. nonsense has taken over. The greater glory that flowed is now what minister has the greatest glory as shown by his/her experiences/manifestations, which anyone with sensitivity to the Holy Ghost can discern as lies.
And I am proud of my name little doggie. I love little dogs.
It is a compromise to overlook a known sin in a church congregation. Like Jesus said, to beware of even a small amount of “leven” . In other words not to tolerate the wrong doing. Those who are very much aware of the known offense, and tolerates it among the ranks, do great harm to the Lord church.

Why not? Christians believe everything they read in the bible without having proof that it was not just a bunch of tale spinners who produced the writings. Why hold back on your faith? And even if you acquiesce that the bible has some errors in it, as many “progressive” Christians do, then what parts of it do you selectively base your faith on, because ultimately if there were no manuscripts, there would be no religion. If errors contradictions stare you right in the face in the holy bible, and yet you still have faith in the death resurrection and lordship of Jesus, how do you know those are not erroneous as well?
I think it’s hypocritical for Christians to believe without proof in an obviously flawed ancient manuscript as being gospel truth, and yet say that this faith does not extend to the preachers of same, ie. Todd Bentley. To be so critical and discerning about modern day ministers and so gullible and credulous about the very origins of the religion, beleaguers me. It also tells me that the loving mighty god they claim to believe in doesn’t give a crap about his followers or for the upholding of truth. He makes them do all the work and get even get burned for exercising faith. Actually, it tells me he’s just a fairytale. It’s just so simple to see.

Maybe one day God will blow your mind and socks off by the reality of Him like so many millions or billions or He wont.
Seek Jesus out before coming to such a conclusion that He is a fairytale. He comes close to those who come close to Him. We open our heart not our mind to find God.
God cares but gives His children the freedom of choice. Generally God only comes as close as we let Him. He has given us this planet and the freedom of doing with it as we would. If we want to destroy the truth, our lives or anything else He has given us, He will let us. Its our choice to make. The same goes for the earth. It isnt Gods problem down here its ours.

Dwayne. FYI I sought “him” out for 40 years. Played the game. Jumped through hoops. Stopped jumping through hoops. Waited. Believed. Listened. Searched. Waited. Listened. Put everything on the line and willing to lose it for “him”. Everything. The end result? No god. No spirit. Just my own desire to believe “he” was real, that “he” was there for me. That, in the end, accept it or not, is all you all have – your own will to believe in whatever you want to. And to reject what you don’t want to hear.
Brano. Show me your proof and I will examine it for its validity. There has been no tangible evidence to prove the Old or New Testament god stories are true. Neither have I observed the “Spirit of Christ” and his supposed power to remove sin and purify the heart of his “True Followers”. I have not observed the biblical power of Christ demonstrated in the world. If the story was true, we would have seen good triumph over evil in the world by now. If true, we would have seen something other than death, nature’s destruction, misery, famine and disease. If your story was true, it would be perceived by all observers, like gravity is. Sadly, ascribing to your beliefs does not truly change the person or the world in the way that Jesus said all men would be drawn to him. Think about it. He has been lifted up now for 2000 years. Stop making excuses for his no-show. For the atrocities committed in his name that he allowed people, real people, to suffer unimaginably through. Or do I need to remind you? Alas, there is more observable evidence out there to contradict what you say is true. What your bible says is true.
Some people believe in ghosts, some ufo’s, some crystal balls and some Jesus. How they arrive at these beliefs are based not on facts, but on personal feelings, biases or interpretations of experiences. But they are all just “beliefs” until they pass the test of objective scrutiny. Until then, you can believe anything your heart desires. Until there is measurable, observable evidence, believing in any supernatural deity is dabbling in silliness. And if religion were not so ingrained in cultural tradition, the claims of the religious would be considered a psychosis. As for me, I wasted way too much of my life being let down by fairy tales that someone else taught to me and I believed without scrutiny.

Ever hear of the Odyssey by Homer? Written around 800 B.C. It contains information that are based on real historical events and real places. Does that mean that The Odyssey proves that the gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus are real too?

Wow, 40 years. Im sorry to hear that I really am. I don’t entirely understand everthing about what God does or doesnt do but be careful of bitterness, its a killer.
More that 20 years ago it was only a -belief- for me, from that time on it became my life. I have put my life on the line in faith countless number of times and He comes through for me now like He did then. Im not saying alwaysthe way I hope but Im still here.
Do you believe in evolution now? Because the idea of all of this being some kind of accident is about as blind as one can be. Who said “if you want to see God look to nature”? Consider the way things are made. The way a man and woman go together is a good one.
Dwayne. The reason you don’t understand everything about what “god” does is because the outcomes are not dictated by any god watching over, but by mere happenstance. The same way the same number of people recover from illness with prayer and without prayer.
Not bitter. Just truly amazed at how the brain and will (my brain in particular) can trick itself into believing a non entity, even when confronted with sound logic and reason. I am realizing just how powerful the mind can be. God-belief may have been a necessary trait for survival for our ancestors, but soon our evolutionary progress will doff same.
If you believe that our universe denotes “some kind of accident”, you clearly need to do some research. That is, if you really care to know what is true. Let your search begin by disregarding all the creationist “scientists” who are telling you that our universe could not have arrived thus far without an intelligent designer. People like you acquiesce and will not put their claims to the test because it lines up with what you believe. Dare to step out of the box. Or do you not believe your god is big enough to keep you from falling away from the faith? Think for yourself. You’ll be okay.
Trust (faith) is a confidence of things hoped for, the proof of things not seen. If we choose to trust, then we can understand. In this way Jesus is not seen in the visible. He is understood through His Word.
From the Jewish scribes who set a high standard for copying accuracy, to thousands of documents, some dated around the second century, the Bible has evolved. Just as historical documents have evolved and serve a nation, the Christian era evolved from the Word of one man, Jesus.

There is more knollege around now than every before, therefore better understanding of scripture. Precept upon precept, line upon line this is the path to greater wisdom.
Susan, the reason I dont understand everything that God does is because I am just a miniscule brain compared to an infinite Being. Maybe this comes as a surprise to you, that we have small minds. Everybody knows a little bit hahaha.
But when it comes to the actions of God, fortunately I am smart enough to know when things are going far beyond mere happenstance as you call it.
Apparently there are documents in medical archives that will testify of not understanding why the person had things like cancer and diabeties one day and it was gone for good the next. The person who was healed understands perfectly well. I have actually known one or two of these cases.
Doff? theres one I had to look up. I think the evolution you speak of is nothing more than our disconection to what is real because of all the distractions, half truths, a human created modern world. We have been desencatised (spelled correctly?) by the world we have created and tuned out of the one God did. Being a born again, spirit filled Christian goes beyond knollege. It is truth in its purest form that is seen through the eyes of God/Christ because it is Him which lives in us.

I dont know allot about this stuff but aparently there are things about physics that they are now recognizing and things that they still barely have clue about. If Im not mistaken, Quantum physics is recognising that the universe is an interconnected evolving system. That space is living matter. There is still a partical of space that they can’t recognize because it would take a piece of equipment more complex than the actual particle itself to figure out what it is. And then there is that unidentifyable force that holds all the energy of the molecules together in all things. Aparently these molecules produce so much energy that they dont know why everything is holding itself together. Why everything doesnt just fly apart. This would be what they call the “God Partical”
Bottom line; they dont know everything. What they are learning are surely thoughts after God. They just havnt put it all together yet.
It is because I have an open mind that I found Christ in the first place.

Scientific discovery is our only reliable source of knowledge about our existence. We now can confidently say, contrary to the bible, that the world is not flat and that the sun does not revolve around it. We know that, contrary to the bible, the bat is not a bird and the rabbit does not chew the cud. And it won’t be long before science definitively buries the creation theory once and for all.
God’s Word is not a reliable source of knowledge on so many levels despite how strongly you wish to believe it is. Funny how the religious will delight in the finer things that the advancement of science has brought us, yet remain stuck in a Bronze Age mindset when it comes to mystical notions about our existence.
It would be different if this god would show up on earth once in a while (other than in people’s minds) LIKE HE USED TO thousands of years ago. Not in an airy fairy, “I felt his touch”, kinda way, but in a powerful way that says, “Hey everybody! I’m still here! And I am God, the creator of the universe!” But he never does, does he? Doesn’t that in itself make you wonder, Dwayne? But then I could see why the god of the bible wouldn’t want to show up – he’d have egg on his face and be a little embarrassed at how infantile and obsolete his Word seems now. Not to mention all the mistakes he made. Lots of ‘splaining to do! But now I’m just getting cynical.
Christianity should have at this point in time, become just a relic from an age of ignorance. But unfortunately Western society seems so hesitant to abandon it.

Good for Damon’s brother, good on Hemunt and good on every person who contributed to the scholarship, it’s up to 15 thousand. And good on Damon for involving the ACLU. Two students went right ahead and defied the law at graduation, This school has a history of seeing themselves outside of regulations because they are “Christian.”

YEah, I agree BD. We have a child in a high school graduating class this year (in a public school) who also happens to be among the minority when it comes to religious affiliations. It must have taken great courage to speak up in front of peers, parents and teachers, knowing the cost would be great, but the message so worth it.

If I was in among people who made prayer other than my religeous beliefs I wouldnt raise a stink about it I simply wouldnt comply. But this poor kid was obviously under allot of preasure. IF YOU ARE NOT ONE OF US THEN WE ARE GOING TO…! I hate that mentality. It really just comes down to respect doesn’t it? People in all circles of life seem to have this little problem with turning people into monsters. If they wernt before they might be later. Poor guy

The God I know Is Power. and if I were Him I might take a walk from the planet as well. Not that he ever did. He just hasnt been in the worlds face for a long while. Again, who can know the thinking and reasons that God has for what He does or doesnt do?
The fact is that nothing or nobody has changed more lives for the better than Jesus Christ. What kind of a person has a problem with that?
The world will never have a vote on the greatest person who has ever walked the earth because it would be Jesus hands down. No one can even come close to what He has done.
Heres something to think about… God is all pure and holy. We are not. If He was more prominant on this planet I suppose there would be allot of people that would come to Him only for a time then go back to their wicked ways for a time as well. When we come to God He takes us unto Himself. Those who would go back and forth would be a greater offence to God than they already are. Like something stuck in His teeth Im thinking. People would not have the freedom they have now. There would be fear, great guilt…
On the other hand, Oh yea Hes coming alright. I believe something is coming that is going to bring a great awakening. God is just and He is going to give everyone a chance before the Great Event.
The importance here is on having good spiritual food.

I often wonder how difficult it is for young teenagers, who deal with a world of many beliefs. How do they know what paths to take and which one to choose?
For my country there are “unalienable rights”. With the cry of The American Revolutionary War, those who fought against The Kingdom of Britan put there mark in history for the world to see. Thus a nation is born for all posterity.
Our government and states have many checks and balances, something I see no other country does. Justice seeks to keep the scales from tipping to the unjust. Time will tell it they stay balanced.
