“The arrest and charges against this former employee are being treated with the utmost seriousness and concern. And its urging anyone with information related to these charges to go to police. Lakemount has and will continue to cooperate fully with police and local authorities during the investigation of this matter. As this matter involves an open police investigation, Lakemount cannot comment further on the allegations or related facts, however we will continue to pray for and support the friends and family of those affected by this difficult situation.” Matt Tapley, Lead Pastor Lakemount Worship Centre Grimsby
This former employee, Andrew Riach has been charged with sexual assault and extortion.
The 31 year old was the youth minister at the up scale Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada church in Grimsby Ontario from 2006 until May, when a young person went to police with the allegations.
Police believe there could be more victims of Riach, and are asking them to contact Niagara Regional Police or call Crimestoppers. Riach is married and has a daughter. He was arrested without incident at a home in Windsor on September 10th. He had a bail hearing in St. Catharines on Wednesday, I don’t know if he he was granted bail or remains in jail. There is no word on his next court appearance.
Lakemount recently underwent a 5 million dollar expansion, and draws about 800 people each Sunday. The church will hold it’s grand opening tomorrow.
