US pastor Mark Driscoll was in Hamilton for the neo-Calvinist Act Like Men conference this weekend. According to one participating US celebrity pastor, Act Like Men Canada drew about 8 thousand male fans.
While continuing to promote his events, Driscoll has wondered in 2008 if some of the men who attend his events are conference addicts. I wonder if the celebrity pastors who plan and profit from their events circuit are the real addicts.
The evangelical conference circuit draws a lot of spectators, is competitive, shows are professionally produced, and the conferences are lucrative for the celebrity speakers. ($109.00 per person for Act Like Men, merchandise extra) As someone pointed out earlier this evening, this will probably take a bite out of participation in the resurrected Promise Keepers events.
To be fair to Driscoll, he did finally get the name of Crossroads Christian Communications flagship show correct.
