Perhaps you could attribute it to Faytene Grasseschi not taking enough history at Simon Fraser University.
I am happy for the former Faytene Kryskow that she apparently had a great time on her recent “honeymoon” in Israel. But, in a brief spate of work, she shows one of those “Err..” moments that she has been noted for.
Faytene remains director of MyCanada, which sends out monthly updates of the interesting things they are doing and projects they encourage people to be involved in.
The June update video is introduced by Faytene while on her holiday.
At 0:22, she says:
“…I’m on the top of Mount Masada, which is a place where people stood for what they believed for in their time…” Full stop.
Is Joesphus on her home bookshelf? In 73 AD, the defenders of the besieged fortress committed mass suicide rather than surrender to the surrounding Romans.
Fight against all odds? Sure. Kill yourself rather than surrender? Perhaps not the best idea to plant in the recesses of a young activist’s mind.
I think it’s quite safe to accept some Kool-Aid from Faytene, but why would you shoot your video segment there when you have been travelling all over the country?
I’m sure it was not a deliberate choice…but forethought would have been useful here.

Faytene is simply,”out to lunch”
If you see two comments, my Internet connection hung up and so I copied and pasted again and added a few things.
What is it with the NAR / dominionist types that have an obsession with Masada?
From what an ex-charismatic who was deeply involved in the prophetic movement told me, Masada is of deep fascination because of it’s history along with the fact of “remnant believers” who chose to fight instead of being in the “status quo” of Israeli-Roman culture. Also, some of the big-time leaders of the prophetic movement claim that Mazada is one of many places on Earth where “open portals to heaven” are located.
Many historians state that the people in Masada were actually people affiliated with the same Zealots (see Luke 6:15, Simon the Zealot) who expected the Messiah to be one who re-established a political kingdom to retake Israel back from Rome instead of one who concentrated on building a political kingdom.
But it’s ironic that the NAR types who love Mazada are really nothing more than new millennium zealots who believe prayer, fasting, hyper repenting and political action “will change things” and re-establish “Christian dominion” back on Earth. And we know what eventually happened to the Zealots…..
Got it Onward,Forward.
It appears that the “contact” page isn’t working on the blog, Bene… any suggestions if we are trying to email you?
Try it now – I was in the template.
Okay, got it.:^) Sure, please feel free to email anytime.
surley not the same one who once stated Queens University was started by the Church of Rome? (sorry I burned my copy of her book…)
Just about 2500 Kilometres away from Rome, in the Reformation tradition of John Knox, and St. Andrew’s Scotland (Church of Scotland, Canada Synod)
